You can learn from video, books, etc. It's simplistic to suggest you cannot. The quality of that learning then becomes the issue. I encourage my students to study video (YouTube) and books. The core of all learning is the identification of similiarities and differences. You learn more about your tactics and techniques by studying those of others and comparing them to yours. However, the degree of learning gets influenced by your current level of understanding.
